Diabetes Mellitus refers to a group of diseases that affect how your body uses blood sugar (glucose). Glucose is vital to your health because it's an important source of energy for the cells that make up your muscles and tissues. It's also your brain's main source of fuel.
If you have Diabetes, no matter what type, it means you have too much glucose in your blood, although the causes may differ. Too much glucose can lead to serious health problems.
Chronic Diabetes conditions include type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes. Potentially reversible diabetes conditions include Pre-diabetes — when your blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as diabetes — and gestational diabetes, which occurs during pregnancy but may resolve after the baby is delivered.

DIABETIC NERVE PAIN IS DIFFERENT
What is diabetic nerve pain?
People living with diabetes can have elevated blood sugar levels, and over time these elevated levels can cause permanent damage to the nerves in their feet and hands. This nerve damage can cause a distinct type of pain - diabetic nerve pain.
SYMPTOMS
What are the symptoms of diabetic nerve pain?
Diabetic nerve pain is different from the pain you may experience from a headache, a sprained ankle, or arthritis. Some people with diabetic nerve pain experience shooting, burning, pins and needles, while others may have no symptoms at all. Diabetic nerve pain is most commonly felt in the feet and hands, and although it can come and go, the damage causing nerve pain is permanent. The type and intensity of the pain varies greatly from person to person.
